From incredible vintage finds—Comme des Garçons shirts and Yohji Yamamoto skirts—to suits from unreleased Willy Chavarria collections, Tessa Thompson’s wardrobe is a fashion lover’s dream. You can tell how much fun the Creed III star has getting dressed as she experiments with different outerwear styles in the latest installment of Vogue’s 7 Days, 7 Looks.
When it comes to accessorizing, she opts for Loewe’s cult boots that look like jeans, metallic pumps from Nodaleto, and cool mini bags. Thompson’s style is a solid balance between of-the-moment pieces and a personal sense of style.
Here’s how the actor gets dressed for every day of the week.
Monday: Business Meeting
“I’m trying to get more into skirts,” Thompson says as she shows us her thrifted Yohji Yamamoto black maxi. As someone who works in a creative industry (Thompson meets with writers, directors, and more), she finds dressing for meetings should take a creative approach to traditional workwear to show who you are. As far as accessories go, a big bag is key; Thompson’s choice is from Gucci.
Tuesday: Girls Day Out
You never know where hanging out with friends can lead you, so a denim-on-denim look is a good start. A pleated trench coat is Thompson’s solution to bringing her look from day to night. Loewe’s slouchy denim boots and a tiny bag don’t hurt, either.
Wednesday: Fashion Star!
“Vivienne Westwood has also been so inspiring to me, not just in fashion but in the way that she lived,” Thompson explains as she sports a head-to-toe Vivienne Westwood look, including a sculptural corset, bubble skirt, and mega platforms.
Thursday: Classic Tessa Outfit
In full Willy Chavarria black oversized suiting, Thompson talks about how much she loves a suit look: “They make me feel comfy, they’re chic.” Shop the designer here.
Friday: Night-Out Look
Dinner or dancing? Thompson dresses up a neutral-colored minidress with an evening-ready metallic miniature top handle, a vintage costume-jewelry necklace, and coordinating silver Mary Jane pumps.
Saturday: Red-Carpet Appearance
It’s clear Thomspon champions emerging designers; for the red carpet, she’ll step out in a witchy black gown from Wiederhoeft, carrying the designer’s bouquet of roses instead of a handbag as a prop.
Sunday: New York vs. Los Angeles Style
In breezy Issey Miyake separates, Thompson achieves East and West Coast style with ease. For New York, the addition of a black leather trench from Brandon Blackwood is key.
