As the biggest night in British film, the BAFTAs are always influential—but this year, the star-studded ceremony came at a particularly significant juncture.

A truncated awards season, post-Golden Globes and in the wake of the devastating Los Angeles wildfires, resulted in a highly unpredictable race: while a flurry of scandals have harmed Oscar frontrunners including Emilia Pérez and The Brutalist, in a shocking twist, the Critics Choice Awards, Directors’ Guild of America Awards, and Producers Guild Awards all anointed the same release, one that had hitherto fallen behind its competition: Sean Baker’s Anora.

In the run-up to the British Academy Film Awards, the question swirled: Would the night confirm the latter’s surge and give it yet another boost ahead of the Academy Awards, or would another dark horse emerge and upend everything? (Answer: yes and no!)

Below, see all of the winners from the 2025 BAFTAs.
