In the dystopian series The 100 and Fear the Walking Dead, Alycia Debnam-Carey was constantly caked in mud. But when she made it back into the real world off-set, the actor learned how to wash off any signs of the apocalypse—leaving her complexion glowing in the process. Here, Debnam-Carey breaks down her cherished beauty secrets, from her 11-step skincare routine to the bronzed makeup look that makes her look like a “mermaid” who’s just left the beach.

After cleansing with Lancer’s The Method, the Australia native pats in Sisley-Paris’s Express Flower Gel Mask ahead of a duo of serums, eye cream, and moisturizer. “I’m pretty fair, so I always had to be really careful,” the 30-year-old says. “Now I spend way too much money on skin care. Like, it’s a joke.” But all that investing has made her an expert. Smoothing on Peter Thomas Roth’s eye patches, Debnam-Carey promises: “Not all [eye masks] work! These work.” Plus, they pair well with pasta. “The ultimate self-care is a mask and eye patches, and then eating carbs and having some wine” she sighs. After filming her gut wrenching new miniseries, The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart, it’s only natural for Debnam-Carey to crave comfort.

The self-proclaimed “sunscreen aficionado” finishes her skin-care regimen with Glossier Invisible Shield SPF. Moving on to makeup, she brushes Armani Beauty’s lightweight foundation over any areas with sun damage, and dots NARS concealer onto “the places that need it.” With her base in place, Debnam-Carey goes for the bronze. Fenty’s Match Stix Contour provides “such a great, taupe-y shade,” she says, blending it into her cheeks and forehead. Benefit’s Hoola Lite Bronzer looks “really, really great” on olive or taupe skin, Debnam-Carey says, dusting it over the bridge of her nose.

After brushing out her brows with Rose Inc. gel, the actor brings some sun-kissed glimmer to her eyes. She layers her lids with a taupe MAC eyeshadow and a “bronzey, shimmery” shade by Fenty. A coat of mascara caps off her gaze; then, it’s time for lip service. Debnam-Carey lines her pout with Charlotte Tilbury’s Pillowtalk pencil before revealing an impressive skill. “My mother can do her lipstick without looking,” she shares. “It’s a trick that I’ve picked up.” To prove it, she keeps her eyes closed while applying a slick of Clinique’s Black Honey lipstick. After a spritz of Dior J’Adore perfume, the freshly bronzed beauty is headed out—and maybe not alone. “I feel like I should, I don’t know, find someone to go on a date with right now,” she says mischievously.
