Amid her busy shooting schedule, Haley Lu Richardson takes an inside-out approach to looking and feeling her best. Priority number one is decompressing between long days on set. “[Being able to spend] time with yourself, for yourself, is definitely a big tool for me,” says the 27-year-old star, who portrays Portia in the new season of The White Lotus. Another strategy for self-care? Her beauty regimen.
It always starts with skin care by way of colorful star-shaped pimple patches, gentle cleansing, and a revitalizing face mask, pausing only for a round of supplements. There’s a probiotic to support immune and digestive health, resveratrol for enhanced heart, brain, and muscle function, and a gummy vitamin to alleviate period symptoms. Her beauty-from-within philosophy is bolstered by mindfulness, too. Per the advice of a childhood ballet teacher, she promotes positivity and self-love by giving herself three compliments a day. “I really do feel like I’m in a better mood,” she says with a smile after grounding herself with positive words and lighting an incense stick.
Once Richardson’s skin is prepped, she applies the same feel-good approach to her makeup. “Makeup is fun!” she exclaims. “I just found the true joy in makeup recently.” Ilia’s beloved skin tint and BareMinerals pressed powder even her complexion, while a pencil and gel groom her brows. Next, she dusts on a rust-hued eyeshadow pigment and a few coats of mascara to make her eyes pop. Finally, the time has arrived for her favorite part: blush.
