“I lately have been super into David Bowie’s makeup,” pop star Bebe Rexha reveals about her recent inspirations. She’s at home in Los Angeles, ready to give us an inside look at how she gets ready for the day—with a rock-and-roll twist in the form of bright blue eye makeup. Whether you’re in the mood for a spirit-boosting makeup tutorial or feeling playful before your next Zoom call, let Rexha be your guide.
Although the singer admits to occasionally falling asleep with her makeup on, she starts this look with an exfoliating cleanser. “It’s kind of like microdermabrasion,” she says. Next, she applies a series of serums to help hydrate her skin, and to prep for a quick face massage with her sculpting tool. Then, to combat her dark under eyes, brightening eye cream is dabbed on the area.
Rexha begins her makeup by filling in her eyebrows, drawing tiny strokes in the spots that could use a bit of love. “I’ll do my makeup, but then I’ll come back like 8,000 times,” she says while running a clear gel through her set. “I’m a perfectionist.” To prep her azure gaze, the singer swipes an ivory shadow over her lids. “[It’s] inspired by Miss Debbie Harry,” she says of her icy blue liquid hue, layering on a powder cobalt blue before blending.
After a swipe of winged liner, Rexha applies mascara and a set of false lashes. “The one thing I love about makeup is you can go back and fix anything, you know?” she says. To brighten the area under her eyes, Rexha enlists a trusty color-correcting method. “It’s going to counteract the darkness under my eyes,” she says while applying a full coverage concealer over the pinkish hue. Next, the singer pats on a light foundation with her Beautyblender, careful not to miss her neck and ears. “I like this product because it doesn’t turn my under eyes gray,” she explains of her translucent powder—the final step for bright eyes.
To “let the eyes speak for themselves,” Rexha lightly brushes on bronzer and a pink blush. Next, the singer defines her pout with a brownish pencil and fills in with a nude lipstick inspired by Kim Kardashian West. Then, it’s a spritz of setting spray followed by perfume: Santal 33, mixed with French Leather. “It lasts all day, and I smell like a boss,” she says.
