This spring, Bella Hadid descended on Solvang, California—a tiny town some 30 miles northwest of Santa Barbara—to try out one of the runway’s chicest accessories: the prim-with-an-edge structured handbag, as seen at Celine, Marc Jacobs, Prada, and elsewhere. While the sunshine-washed setting served up plenty of charm—known for its Danish-inspired architecture, Solvang’s main thoroughfare, Mission Drive, is lined with half-timbered buildings, several functioning windmills, and a replica of Copenhagen’s 17th-century Rundetårn (or Round Tower)—the bags kept things thoroughly dignified.

Worn with fetching, tailored separates (embellished minidress here; a pair of pleated silk-satin Bermuda shorts there), these are bags that have little trouble blending business and pleasure.
