For those of us who treat red carpet spectating like a serious sport, it certainly was an eventful year to take in celebrity fashion. Between awards season, the Met Gala, the Olympic Games, and countless other Hollywood premieres, 2024 gave us coutless star-studded events to dissect. While many A-listers brought statement looks along with them, a handful of celebs stood out from the pack—in fun, innovative, and risky looks. By our estimation 24 rose to the top, landing on Vogue s best dressed of the year list.
To land on these names, we combed through hundreds of red carpet photos—and a year s worth of of our weekly Best Dressed lists—to pinpoint the stars who embraced individuality and drama on the red carpet. Forget following trends or playing it safe: these forward-thinking fashion plates navigated the step and repeat with a unique point-of-view. Whether it was those who favored avant-garde silhouettes (see: FKA twigs and Yseult, two lovers of sculptural designs) or gravitated more towards quiet minimalism, à la Pamela Anderson in elegant, stealth-wealth looks while promoting The Last Showgirl, it was a year that truly had it all.
Hollywood s leading men, meanwhile, stepped it up this year, too. Actors like Colman Domingo and Paul Mescal proved they know their way around a good suit, while musicians like Bad Bunny and A$AP Rocky brought cool streetwear and emerging labels to the mix. Farewell boring suits, hello slick bolo ties and sequin coats.
All of this to say: It was a thrilling red carpet year. And without further ado, scroll on to see our 24 best dressed stars of 2024.
Saoirse Ronan
Between promoting her films Blitz and The Outrun, Saoirse Ronan had more than a few red carpets to navigate—and she did so with whip smart flair. The star worked with stylist Danielle Goldberg to craft a Hollywood-worthy wardrobe filled with sharp cuts, intriguing silhouettes, and playful finishes. Her floor-length evening gowns (often by Louis Vuitton) came with bejeweled belts, and her dresses for day were designed in sequined camos or metallic aqua blues. Together, Ronan and Goldberg simply never missed.
Ayo Edebiri
Ring-ring: 2024’s It girl has entered the chat. Thanks to her starring role on The Bear, Ayo Edebiri’s star has risen in Hollywood, and her fashion game has gone to the top with it. Alongside stylist Danielle Goldberg, Edebiri has proven she isn’t afraid to go bold on the carpet. Case in point? A multicolor-print leather Bottega dress and a three-dimensional Loewe floral gown. Even off-duty, her suit vests and baggy trousers have made it clear: She is a true fashion girl.
Paul Mescal
All eyes on him in the center of the ring! Gladiator II star Paul Mescal proved he knows his way around a slick suit or two this year. While promoting his mega blockbuster, the actor worked with stylist Felicity Kay on a tailored-but-cool wardrobe that feels both fresh and modern. His deconstructed blazers and collarless shirts (often by Gucci) made suiting up feel not-so-stuffy. Though, off-duty, we simply will never get over his dedication to short-shorts.
Rihanna and A$AP Rocky
Best dressed couple (and coolest parents ever) alert! There was no Hollywood duo that did coordinated dressing as well as Rihanna and A$AP Rocky. Where Rocky leaned into dapper suiting and fresh-off-the-runway streetwear, Rihanna turned to custom Alaïa and vintage Commes des Garçons. To quote one of Rocky’s tracks, they both lay claim to the title “Fashion Killa.”
Zendaya
It’s no secret that Zendaya is a fashion icon, but 2024 was the year she really hit her stride. Alongside her longtime (and legendary) stylist Law Roach, the star hit up the Met Gala and her Challengers press tour with incomparable style. Her love for creativity knows no bounds: She can make any garment feel current, whether it is an archival throwback or custom couture.
Yseult
Yes, Yseult! The French singer-songwriter has made each red carpet appearance her fashion playground: There has been no design too dramatic or avant-garde for her to pull off, whether she is in darkly-romantic Rick Owens or New Dior glamour. It takes great skill to make a mostly-black wardrobe pop—yet each and every ensemble the star has worn has stood out against a sea of colors.
Colman Domingo
Forget snoozy suits. Colman Domingo has worked with stylists Wayman + Micah to zero in on one word for his red carpet wardrobe: Fun. Thanks to snazzy finishings (sequins! Florals!) and whimsical accessories (see: his cat-shaped Valentino clutch), there was no pieces too bold for the star to pull off. His approach to fashion has been a total breathe of fresh air.
Angelina Jolie
When you’re Angelina Jolie, you can pretty much wear anything, but her quietly-elegant looks while promoting Maria this year have been an intentional (and completely successful) fashion vibe. Whether she was in sleek Saint Laurent suits or vintage Old Hollywood-style gowns, her pared-back designs have still managed to shine. She has made the ultimate case for going timeless over trendy.
Jennifer Lawrence
Maternity style will never look the same. This year, Jennifer Lawrence has redefined mom-to-be fashion—bringing impeccable glamour to the red carpet as her baby bump continues to grow. She and stylist Jamie Mizrahi have found romantic (and very Hollywood) gowns with an ethereal feel and perfect fit. Their collaboration has resulted in everything from to polka-dotted Dior to archival Christian Lacroix.
Bad Bunny
His name is Bad Bunny, but his fashions are good. Whether he was performing on stage or hitting up the Met Gala, the Puerto Rican rapper has proven he is in a fashion league of his own. His 2024 wardrobe has leaned on leather—from suits to trenches—and been punctuated with western-style bolo ties and dramatic chapeaus, including baseball caps and a sculpted Margiela topper.
Emma Corrin
One of the year’s biggest risk takers, Emma Corrin isn’t afraid to turn heads on the red carpet. Working with stylist Harry Lambert, Corrin understands that fashion can be an art form: They consistently choose looks that challenge the status quo and create a memorable moment. Sheer silhouettes, neon-bright suiting—nothing is off limits for the star. And we thank them for it!
Greta Lee
Another Danielle Goldberg client has entered the ring: Greta Lee and the stylist consistently find statement gowns that pack a punch on the red carpet. Her voluminous silhouettes take up space and demand to be noticed, as do her sprightly florals or upbeat silky pastels. These clothes are fanciful, but not fussy—a perfect combo for the times.
Charli XCX
It may have been a Brat Summer, but it was definitely Charli XCX’s entire year. The pop star was booked and busy, whether she was embarking on the Sweat tour with Troye Sivan or hosting (and performing) on SNL. She and stylist Chris Horan made sure she had the looks to match. She channelled It girl energy with her short skirts, saucy leather boots, and always her signature sporty shades.
Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo
If you care to find them, look to the western sky! Wicked co-stars Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande nabbed one of the biggest and most fashion-filled press tours of the year. Grande and stylist Mimi Cuttrell leaned into Glinda pinks; Erivo and stylist Jason Bolden embraced Elphaba greens. But both stars embodied true A-lister energy in both frothy tulle and sequined gowns. We cannot wait for Wicked 2 next year. Hurry up, Jon M. Chu!
Demi Moore
Demi Moore may have taken a mysterious and transformative concoction in The Substance, but her elegant red carpet style is all her own. She and longtime stylist Brad Goreski have leaned into traditional Hollywood glamour, though there have been unexpected delights, thanks to the architectural silhouettes and floral-covered Erdem suiting. The best finishing accessory? Her dog (and viral Dogue cover star) Pilaf, who often accompanies her on the red carpet. Woof!
Jacob Elordi
Is that the sound of screaming fans we hear in the distance? Jacob Elordi is one of the year’s biggest heartthrobs, and his slick wardrobe only adds the appeal. When he wasn’t busy being a Bottega boy (don’t miss him carrying the red Andiamo bag), Elordi slipped into all kinds of cool tailored suits—from black tuxedo lapels to sandy-brown single-breasted styles. You can thank Wendi Nicole, the stylist duo behind these contemporary looks, for that.
Pam Anderson
Welcome to the Pamela Anderson renaissance. Thanks to a powerful performance in Gia Coppola’s The Last Showgirl, Anderson has been thrust back into the spotlight—and is looking better than ever. With her muted color palette and sleek, streamlined designs, Anderson followed a whole new style philosophy in 2024, and minimalism looks good on her. It’s giving ready for the Oscars.
Hunter Schafer
What do you get when Hunter Schafer and stylist Dara team up on the red carpet? A fashion spectacle! Together, the duo lean into theatrics in the best way possible—whether Shafer is in a casual beanie, or a shimmering Armani gown at Cannes. No matter what the occasion is, you can always count on the star to quite simply bring it.
Lewis Hamilton
It’s no secret that athletes have infiltrated the world of high fashion, and speeding right to the top of the trendsetters lane is pro race car driver Lewis Hamilton. His Instagram bio reads, “Man on many missions”—and among them is to clearly to dress to impress. Whether he was in embroidered floral Burberry suiting at the Met Gala, or a cool suit vest on his days off, the star always serves a look. He wears racing jackets for a living, after all.
FKA twigs
Few marched to the beat of their own fashion drum as well as FKA twigs did this year. While promoting The Crow, the star stepped out in distinctive looks that were extremely forward-thinking. She and stylist Georgia Pendlebury have pulled off everything from sculptural leather Rick Owens looks, to elegant vintage Armani gowns. Always present, however, is a sky-high shoe and fierce pair of shades. She’s like a walking high-fashion editorial.
Daniel Craig
The name is not Bond, James Bond. Daniel Craig has redefined his look this year—by totally elevating it beyond the classic suits he was known to sport in the Bond franchise. While promoting Luca Guadagnino’s Queer, the actor—alongside stylist Taylor McNeill—has embraced a more playful and quirky sensibility, filled with technicolor Loewe knits or tinted aviator shades. The pants? Baggy. The shoes? Sneakers instead of oxfords. It’s the little touches that proven he is, suddenly, a true fashion guy.
Chloe Sevigny
Would it be a best dressed list without Chloë Sevigny? The reigning New York It girl returned once again with a slew of winning red carpet moments this year, whether she was promoting The Swans or Monsters. On her and stylist Haley Wollen’s rolling rack? Fresh-off-the-runway pieces from Renaissance Renaissance, Phoebe Philo, Saint Laurent, and more.
