It’s hard to know where to look first when it comes to Beyoncé’s wardrobe, between her fashion-forward Instagram posts, her directional music videos with husband Jay-Z, and the straight-from-the-runway ensembles seen on her On the Run II tour. Case in point: the multitasking superstar was joined by Jay-Z and daughter Blue Ivy in Cannes yesterday, where she swapped out her thigh-high Gucci boots and Michael Costello dresses for a festive, printed frock fit for lounging on the sand or elegantly eating dinner à la plage.
Beyoncé has long been a fan of bold prints—see all the gothic Versace in the “Apeshit” video, or the times she’s twinned with Blue in Dolce Gabbana—and yesterday’s dress was the ideal frock for catching some much needed R&R. The tangerine dress was infused with island-friendly frills at the shoulder and hem for added flounce, while a traditional beach hat picked up the effect up top. Round, retro-inspired shades and oversize hoop earrings were her only accessories—both ideal for the evening—but the singer’s bare feet and million-watt smile were her most winning accoutrements.
