British actress and singer Cynthia Erivo currently has the color green on her mind. Likely because of her upcoming role—she’ll soon be starring as Elphaba in a film adaptation of the musical Wicked, out in November of this year.
Those who are familiar with the theory of method dressing will recognize Erivo’s A-plus version of the trend, seen tonight on the Oscars red carpet. It starts with the deep emerald Louis Vuitton dress, then moves onto her incredible manicure.
The long, pointed nails were likely shaped by Cynthia’s go-to nail artist, the LA-based Rose Hackle. To get the clear effect, start with a base like Apres Gel-X Extensions (which can be completely see-through, if not layered over a natural nail). From there, emerald green swirls and crystals are placed on the nails. For extra credit, see Erivo’s touches of pink on some fingers—perhaps a wink at her Wicked costar Ariana Grande, who is playing Glinda.
