PhotoVogue was created with the aim of providing opportunities for emerging artists and connecting their talent with the industry. The collaborative approach of our platform is dedicated not only to the artists but also to sustaining similar initiatives founded on the same values that we hold.
Der Greif is a platform founded in 2008 that fosters visual artists with the goal of supporting them and providing visibility, while also guiding them through the art world. In an environment where it is often difficult to create connections and receive support, both PhotoVogue and Der Greif share the conviction that new, diverse talents are more essential than ever in shaping the future. New ideas can flourish only through the exchange of fresh perspectives. PhotoVogue and Der Greif offer opportunities both online and offline, creating moments in which artists can feel seen and heard while being guided by experts in the field. In these challenging times, when cultural initiatives struggle to overcome societal and financial obstacles, it is crucial to remain steadfast in our core values and invent new solutions to continue providing a network for creatives.
Der Greif has developed two paths to help navigate the decline in cultural funding. One is the Crowdfunding Campaign, which anyone can support, even with small contributions. The other is the Der Greif Circle, dedicated to larger patrons and donors who wish to get more involved. These initiatives are vital for sustaining the opportunities Der Greif offers to visual artists. This year, the platform launched two open calls: Pictures on a Journey and Guest Room. The works selected for Pictures on a Journey, made in collaboration with Various Others, with the themes “Strange Homeland” and “Encounters,” will be made into limited-edition postcards, which will be sent from the Hotel Bayerischer Hof. Three artists will receive a total scholarship of €4,000. Guest Room, on the other hand, sees Iris Sikking, curator of photography at the Fotomuseum Den Haag, and Fleurie Kloostra, curator at Melkweg Expo, introducing the theme “Dynamic Perspective.” They ask artists to submit works related to “openness toward people, nature, and non-living entities.”
