In a nutshell:

After an explosive, euphoric, heart-wrenching second season, Hwang Dong-hyuk’s Netflix hit following desperate South Koreans fighting to the death is coming back for its final installment—and much sooner than you may think.

Is there a trailer for Squid Game Season 3?

Yes, there are three—and they feature a continuation of the deadly games. Watch them in full below, along with the hair-raising first clip—which some viewers may have already caught, given it was hidden in the credits of the final episode of Season 2—starring Chul-su, a brand-new killer doll who appears to be at the center of a new version of “Red Light, Green Light.” Yikes.

He also features alongside our beloved Young-hee in a new poster released shortly after the launch of Season 2.

What will be the plot of Squid Game Season 3?

We know that the games will continue in Season 3, and that there will be new contestants (there are three new characters in the teaser, wearing the numbers “96,” “100,” and “353”). However, how exactly that will happen after the—spoiler alert—uprising at the end of Season 2 remains unclear. In an interview with Variety, Hwang Dong-hyuk teased that the third season will see Lee Jung-jae’s Seong Gi-hun dealing with a “sense of huge guilt and failure” following the death of his friend, Lee Seo-hwan’s Park Jung-bae.

“How is Gi-hun going to carry on his mission?” the show’s creator continued. “That’s the story that’ll further unfold… Gi-hun having lost everything, including his best friend, and all of his attempts going to failure… now, what is he going to be like? What state is Gi-hun going to be in? And what will he choose to do? Is he going to give up or persist? And so you’re going to meet Gi-hun at a very critical crossroads as we begin the third season. Gi-hun will not be the man he was in season two.” And as for what else we can look forward to? “With each episode it’s going to get better,” he confirms. “With each season it’s going to get better and [you’ll get] a more expanded story, a more intense story, and one that’s definitely more entertaining. So just be sure to watch it until the very end!”

An official log line followed on January 30: “Picking up where the second season left off, Season 3 explores the choices Gi-hun will make amidst overwhelming despair. As the Front Man plots his next move, the surviving players find their decisions leading to increasingly dire consequences with each round of the deadly games.”

Who from Squid Game Season 2 will return for Season 3?

With the third season picking up where the second left off, everyone who survived the final episode of Season 2 will be back: mother and son duo, Jang Geum-ja (Kang Ae-shim) and Park Yong-sik (Yang Dong-geun); the pregnant Kim Jun-hee (Jo Yu-ri) and her ex, Lee Myung-gi (Im Si-wan); the mysterious shaman, Seon-nyeo (Chae Kook-hee); the terrified former marine, Kang Dae-ho (Kang Ha-neul); the trans special forces soldier and uprising MVP, Cho Hyun-ju (Park Sung-hoon); the detective and fan favorite, Hwang Jun-ho (Wi Ha-joon); the deadly, pink-hooded game worker, Kang No-eul (Park Gyu-young); and the Front Man (Lee Byung-hun), as well as Gi-hun.

As for the countless casualties, they include Choi Seung-hyun’s deranged rapper Thanos, Won Ji-an’s achingly cool Se-mi, and Kim Si-eun’s fragile Kim Young-mi, alongside Jung-bae.

When will Squid Game Season 3 be released?

Let’s just say you won’t have to wait three years, like you did for Season 2: Season 3 will land on Netflix on June 27. Bring it on.
