Vogue’s Forces of Fashion event is returning to our offices at One World Trade Center on October 16, with a focus on that most alluring element of the industry—the runway show—offering a peek behind the “backstage” curtain into what goes into a show’s creation. As such, this year’s star-studded lineup includes a veritable who’s-who of the fashion insiders responsible for some of the most enduring looks of our time.
Duffy, the hair stylist known for his work with Marc Jacobs, Rick Owens, and Maison Margiela, will be on hand to discuss his unlikely path into beauty—including a stint as a snowboarder and working in his parents’ antique business—and what goes into the creative beauty process.
The British fashion designer Victoria Beckham, who in the 16 years since launching her namesake label with a handful of expertly-fitted dresses has transformed it into a beauty and ready-to-wear empire that serves up her own fashionable joie-de-vivre for her customers, will also be in attendance. The ex-Spice Girl will be joined in conversation by Vogue’s Anna Wintour, sharing lessons learned along the way from the world of fashion.
And drumroll please… Duffy and Beckham will be joined by Jean Paul Gaultier. The design legend has been a deeply influential figure in fashion and pop culture—we know we don’t need to remind you of the iconic cone bra Madonna wore for her Blonde Ambition tour in 1990—for the last four decades, and though he stepped down from the role of creative director of his own label in 2020, his legacy is being renewed afresh with couture collections by a rotating series of guest designers, Courrèges’s Nicolas Di Felice most recently.
Forces of Fashion’s previously announced speakers include the makeup artist Dame Pat McGrath, the fashion designers Raúl Lopez of Luar and Jacquemus’s Simon Porte-Jacquemus, and the musician, producer, and creative multi-hyphenate Honey Dijon.
