Eraldo Poletto has been appointed to lead Italian footwear brand Santoni as CEO with immediate effect following his departure from Diesel, where he was at the helm for just seven months.
Poletto, a member of the Santoni board for four years, succeeds Giuseppe Santoni — son of founders Andrea and Rosa Santoni — who has led the company since 1990 and is moving to become chairman and executive president. The appointment marks Santoni’s first CEO from outside the founding family.
Santoni was founded in 1975 and is known for formal footwear and artisanal shoemaking. Stockists include Farfetch, Harrods, Mytheresa, Mr Porter and Matchesfashion. The US is one of the brand’s top performing markets, with sales growing 82 per cent in 2022 to €98.6 million. Total revenue grew 45 per cent in 2022. Its headquarters are in Macerata, Italy.
Poletto joined Diesel in January 2022 as CEO of North America and was promoted to global CEO in July. Prior to Diesel, he held CEO positions at Stuart Weitzman, Salvatore Ferragamo and Furla. When announcing his departure in February, Diesel said he was leaving his role to “return to the United States for personal reasons”.
“[Poletto’s] extensive and profound experience with prominent brands, coupled with a global perspective and strong determination, make him an ideal fit,” Santoni said in a press release.
