From November 22nd to December 7th, the UNESCO World Heritage site of Grand-Bassam, Côte d Ivoire, hosts the fourth edition of Africa Foto Fair (AFF), initiated by Ethiopian photographer Aïda Muluneh. The event takes place across various venues – La Maison de l Art, ESMA, INSAAC, and Côte d Ivoire Tourisme – with a rich public program of workshops, lectures, screenings, discussions, and activities for youth and the wider community.
The event was pre-launched with Gaze Eternal: Ethiopia Past and Becoming, a vibrant program of archival and contemporary Ethiopian photography, screenings, and sound installations at the Institut Français.
Until December 7th, visitors can explore Lines of Sight: Africa Now, featuring a solo exhibition by Algerian photographer Ferhat Bouda at La Maison de l Art, as well as an open-air presentation in the garden of La Maison d’Aunty Rosa showcasing works by more than 70 artists. In addition to Lines of Sight, Africa Foto Fair also presents installations by numerous artists, including Lucas Foglia’s Constant Bloom, Ana Amado’s La superficie del tiempo, Marta Soul’s En Escena, Julia Llerena’s site-specific intervention, and an exhibition of emerging Ivorian photographers from the Laurenceairlines creative ecosystem.
From November 27th to December 14th, Galerie Studer in Cocody will host a sales focus featuring limited-edition prints by both Ivorian and international photographers. The Festival will conclude with the launch of the Aïda Muluneh Center, a creative studio and retail space dedicated to photography-inspired merchandise and contemporary African design.
With guests, presenters, and educators from around the world, Africa Foto Fair reaffirms its commitment to fostering creativity and connection. “We believe that art and culture are essential to development,” stated Muluneh. “This edition is about building connections, engaging audiences, and strengthening cultural ties across Africa and beyond.”
