“I love makeup, but I think you should wear [the makeup],” says Irina Shayk. “Makeup should not be wearing you.” Today, the Russian supermodel is breaking down her day-to-night makeup routine, from fresh, lit-from-within skin to a dramatic red lip.
Clad in a gold Versace robe and with her dark lengths pulled back in taut slick-back, Shayk begins by prepping her complexion, blending a few pumps of Shani Darden Weightless Oil-Free Moisturizer all over before tapping Mimi Luzon Eye Awake cream under the eyes. In addition to beginning her day with a tall glass of water with lemon and using Mimi Luzon’s 24K Pure Gold Treatment (“I’m Russian—I love gold!” she says), Shayk’s other skin-scare secret hinges on embracing her Russian roots. “I grew up in very cold weather,” she explains. “When I wake up or travel, and feel a little swollen [with] bags under my eyes, I run to the fridge and I get an ice cube, and [glide it] all around my eye area, my chin, [and] all around my face.”
For imperceptible coverage, Shayk looks to Pat McGrath Labs Sublime Perfection Foundation, mixing two different shades together in a little “swimming pool” in her palm, then adds luminous definition with swipes of the ultra-portable, multitasking Skin Fetish Highlighter Balm Duo. “I keep minimal products in my purse,” says Shayk of her on-the-go beauty strategy. To complement her green gaze, Shayk smudges a taupe eyeshadow, then a warm, dark green one into her lids with her fingertip. “Some girls love to apply makeup with brushes. I just [find] it so much easier to apply with my finger because you can control it more,” she explains. Shayk then reaches for a rosy nude shade of BlitzTrance lipstick, swiping it across her full pout before repurposing it on the cheeks as a creamy blush. For full, feathered brows, she mists a toothbrush with Bumble and bumble Bb. Strong Finish hairspray and combs it through her arches, then wiggles jet-black mascara through her lashes to full eye-opening effect.
Showcasing how she transitions her look into the evening, she reaches for a bright red bullet, tracing it on her lips before blending out the edges for a more lived-in look. And with that, her look is complete. “I hope you enjoy and try to [re-create] it and look fabulous and love yourself,” she says. “Mwah!”
