After four years, Jane Lauder is stepping down from her position as chief data officer and executive vice president of enterprise marketing at Estée Lauder Companies (ELC), effective from the end of 2024.

In an internal memo, Lauder wrote: “The company is embarking on a necessary and fundamental turnaround. I have thought about how I can be most effective in helping the company reclaim its rightful position as the world’s leader in prestige beauty and restore long-term shareholder value.” Lauder will be staying on in an advisory role to the CEO and supporting the profit recovery and growth plan until the end of the fiscal year.

“This change will allow me to have the greatest impact and influence on ELC’s future. In this role, I intend to focus on the company’s strategic imperatives, growth profile and the requisite transformational change,” Lauder added.

Lauder’s departure follows earlier news of CEO Fabrizio Freda’s incoming retirement in June 2025 and Tracy Travis stepping down as chief financial officer, effective 1 November. The succession plan is evidently in motion as speculation continues concerning who will steer the American beauty giant into the future.

The company is expected to release its Q1 fiscal 2025 earnings results this Thursday, which should help the industry take stock of the upcoming challenges its new CEO will need to navigate.
