Last Friday, Jung Kook of BTS kicked off Good Morning America’s Summer Concert Series in Central Park. The concert also marked his first official global solo debut, and took place the same day that Jung Kook released “Seven,” his new single, and a song that has already broken streaming records. Other artists who will perform as part of the series include Tim McGraw and Sam Hunt; in August several more will perform as part of a celebration of the 50th anniversary of hip hop.

GMA’s Juju Chang asked Jung Kook what his bandmates thought of his new music, to which he replied, simply, “They loved it!” Fans clearly liked it, too, when he performed his new song, despite the stormy skies over Central Park. The global debut from the South Korean singer, songwriter, and member of 21st century phenomenon BTS also features the rapper Latto.

Before he took to the stage, Jung Kook spent a few minutes chatting with Vogue about his favorite American food (burgers … and french fries… and milkshakes—we can relate) and sharing his top tips for long-haul travel. (Get lots of sleep! Understandable when you’re crossing the globe as often as he is.) He confessed to be both nervous and excited before his performance and even did a few push-ups in front of the camera. Get those anxiety-banishing endorphins flowing!
