“Gold is glamorous and fun,” says hairstylist Guido Palau. That’s why he chose to focus on the molten metal for fashion retailer Zara’s first-ever hair collection, available to shop on November 30.
The brilliant drop, named Glitter in Gold, starts off with two products: Gold Gel and Gold Glitter Spray. Palau likens the two to “makeup for your hair” in a shade of “soft, cool gold that’s totally buildable.” While a glitter hairspray it a bit more self-explanatory, he compares the gel to a cream highlight. “It can create the same shine like your hair is hit by the sun. Smooth it into hair, or build up another layer for more of a pop.” Naturally, both come in packaging that matches the product. There are also two accessories, an oversized gold bobby pin and a functional gold comb, which come in a matching cool-gold finish.
When it came to a face for the drop, only one would do: the hairstylist’s eternal muse, model Kaia Gerber. Gerber and Palau go back—in 2020, the two took to IGTV for a quarantine hair session that resulted in the model going bright pink. “We’ve got hair history together,” he says. “While she’s a model, she has an easy relatability to her.”
Together, the duo is a holiday-hair-mood-board dream, sparkles and gold galore.
