Last night in Manhattan, as the fashion set dashed from runway show to runway show, Telfar put on a very different kind of event. To celebrate his Fall 2018 collection, aptly titled “Music,” Telfar Clemens hosted a one-of-a-kind ensemble concert, replete with musicians Dev Hynes, Kelsey Lu, Ian Isiah, rapper 070 Shake and more—all jamming in the designer s pops of red leather and signature rock ‘n’ roll cut-out pieces. Center stage was beauty queen and songstress, Kelela, who performed vocals looking fresh faced in a trio of architectural knots, crafted by hairstylist Virginie Moreira for the occasion.
While the R&B musician has been known to take a risk when it comes to her trademark lengths, often embellishing her locs with pearls and crystal beads, the mesmerizing look was a departure, cutting a striking figure during the group’s soulful rendition of “Grateful” by Hezekiah Walker. As New York Fashion Week officially hits it s stride, It-girls and street style stars, take note: when in doubt, make like Kelela, and twist and shout.
