Fresh newlywed Kristen Stewart is stepping out on the Croisette with a wardrobe of Chanel and a new hairdo.
The actor, who is attending Cannes Film Festival 2025 to promote her forthcoming film The Chronology of Water, was photographed at a photocall at the Palais Des Festivals for the film wearing various textures of lavender, opting for a tweed Chanel cardigan with matching shorts, and a sheer, layered chiffon skirt. To top off the springtime pastel look, Stewart debuted a fresh bleach blonde and pink dip dye.
Stewart gathered her hair in a loose and messy updo with a fresh set of chopped bangs, offsetting the ultra-feminine fashion with a bit of emo-y beauty edge.
Of course, Stewart had to usher in a memorable new beauty look given the important milestone Cannes marks. She’s making her directorial debut with The Chronology of Water—a romantic drama adapted from Lidi Yuknavitch’s autobiographical bestseller of the same name, exploring childhood trauma, grief, and the power of writing as a transformative tool. The film was co-written by Stewart alongside Andy Mingo (it took her eight years to get it to fruition), and makes its world debut today (May 16).
“There are voices that help you find yours,” Stewart said of Yuknavitch’s work to Vanity Fair. “It became a sacred text for me overnight.”
The actor and new director turned back to bleach blonde at the start of this year, debuting a blonde shoulder-length ’do with razored, face-framing pieces, letting her darker roots show with brassier, orange temples and ends. Before that, Stewart had been committed to more chocolatey brunette tones and a long trending wolf cut. And it was all the way back at Cannes Film Festival in 2016 that Stewart chose to debut an electrifying bleach blonde bob, with a fire engine red, glossy lip to amp up the dramatic change.
Her latest hair switch-up was executed by go-to celebrity colorist Daniel Moon with styling by Bridget Brager. Moon was inspired by one of opening lines in the book of The Chronology of Water which mentions a color called “earth blood,” and ran with that reference to create the inky, diaphanous pink/red dip dye for Stewart.
With congratulations for her recent nuptials still ringing in the air, a highly anticipated feature film to be released, and now a striking new look, it’s set to be a Kristen Stewart summer.
