Over the past year, Margot Robbie has made it her personal mission to champion the mutable power of the chop. Whether styled in a soft wave bent to brush shoulders or flipped up in 90s guise, the actress s abbreviated blonde has become something of a signature. Which is likely why, when Robbie took to Instagram this morning to debut a first look at her turn as Sharon Tate in Quentin Tarantino s forthcoming film, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, eyes went immediately to her elongated and bent in lengths.
Along with an era-inspired ensemble—white miniskirt, matching midi boots, and modish black turtleneck included—came a blonde blowout that fell in soft and buoyant fashion, a medium-length mane that felt both referential and timeless, ideal for emulation regardless of decade. Along with the extra inches came a slightly lightened brow shade, the power trade-in allowing for an even more transmutable look. Considering that Tate s 1960 s aesthetic was defined by her blonde, which alternated between bombshell and bohemian, Robbie s channeling is infinitely on-point. Does the trompe l oeil look mean the beginning of the end for the bob? Time, and the accompanying twist of trend, will tell.
