For the second edition of “WomenToday. Liberi sguardi sull’universo femminile,” narrating the different perspectives of young photographers on femininity in contemporary times, the exhibition Maschere e specchi - Uno sguardo femminista” at Ex Fornace on show from March 8 to 21 is curated by Camilla Ferrari, photographer and professor at Istituto Italiano di Fotografia. The title draws inspiration from a section of “Our Selves: Photographs by Women Artists from Helen Kornblum” (2022), an exhibition by Roxana Marcoci analysing a century of female photographers and their feminist approach to the medium. For ”Maschere e specchi" the students were invited to investigate the power play behind the creation of an image, reflecting the inequalities of current times, through an intersectional perspective.
From the relationship with the body to analyzing trauma to the societal constraints on human beings and their relationship with the planet, the exhibition, accompanied by a magazine, invites us to reflect on identity, connection, and complexity.
The Exhibition is part of: “WOMEN TODAY. Liberi sguardi sull’universo femminile”
