With tennis season in full swing, it seems you can’t go anywhere—well, not at Vogue HQ, anyway—without overhearing some gossip from “the Open.” But the actual athletic goings-on at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center are only part of the draw—the who’s-in-the-stands-with-whom intrigue at the US Open is arguably just as appealing.
So we’re connecting all the dots for you. Tennis has had its share of power couples over the decades (Chris and Jimmy! Steffi and Andre! Roger and Mirka! Art and Tashi!), but who are all of today’s top players dating? Below, find a guide to five of the hottest couples in tennis.
Taylor Fritz and Morgan Riddle
Once you’re crowned a “Chanel-clad tennis WAG,” you’re officially in the tennis discourse—though that’s not the only brand Morgan Riddle has repped during her five-year courtship with American Taylor Fritz. At this year’s Wimbledon Championships alone, she could variously be spotted in tennis-ball green Valentino, dark Ferragamo trousers, white lace Dolce Gabbana, and pretty pink Patou.
Frances Tiafoe and Ayan Broomfield
Tiafoe, the 17th-ranked player in the world, has been seeing Canadian tennis player Ayan Broomfield since 2015, and they’re clearly besotted with one another. “He has so much support here in the States; I think they really have taken him in and they have his back,” Broomfield said of her beau during last year’s Open. “Older, younger; men, women; everyone is just really, really behind him—they support him.”
Ben Shelton and Trinity Rodman
Relationship pro tip: Find someone who will take a red-eye from California to New York to cheer you on, as soccer star Trinity Rodman did for boyfriend Ben Shelton at the US Open this week. While Rodman is a successful athlete in her own right—she currently serves as a forward for the Washington Spirit—she is clearly not to be underestimated when it comes to courtside support, either; just take a look at her Shelton fan shirt!
Alex de Minaur and Katie Boulter
This tennis power couple has been Instagram-official since 2021, with Boulter telling the Sydney Morning Herald in 2024 that the two met by chance rather than on the court. “We bumped into each other at six in the morning and ended up getting a coffee. From that moment, I knew I was in it for the long haul,” she said. Given de Minaur and Boulter announced their engagement last December, there’s surely plenty of early morning coffee and tennis chat in this happy pair’s future.
Gaël Monfils and Elina Svitolina
While some couples on the dual-tennis-star partnership track are still establishing themselves, this French-Ukrainian couple have been together since 2018, marrying in 2021. They welcomed a daughter, Skai, in 2022.
