Or at least they have been this summer, which has seen countless A-listers reduced to screaming fans by Taylor Swift’s Eras tour (where Channing Tatum wore more face glitter than his daughter), and the sequin-spangled, couture-filled juggernaut that is Beyoncé’s Club Renaissance (think Issa Rae filming Tracee Ellis Ross belting out “Energy” on her iPhone).
Beyoncé’s last LA gig on Monday – which coincided with her 42nd birthday – might have been her starriest to date. Along with Hollywood royalty – Zendaya and Tom Holland, The Bear star Ayo Edebiri – there was actual royalty singing along to “Cuff It” at the SoFi Stadium: super-fan the Duchess of Sussex joined Bey’s Destiny’s Child bandmate Kelly Rowland and Scandal star Kerry Washington in the crowd.
Having chosen to perform live rather than enjoy a well-deserved night off on her birthday, Beyoncé encouraged fans to come to the concert in metallic looks – in keeping with her Renaissance record’s disco theme – and the VIP section was a sea of silver Paco Rabanne paillettes as a result. Meghan (who previously watched her idol perform over the weekend with husband Prince Harry, mother Doria, and her former Suits co-star Abigail Spencer), took note of the style memo, opting for a fitted black halter-neck top worn with a silver sequined pencil skirt that was every bit as sparkly as Beyoncé’s disco horse. A fitting way to celebrate #BeyDay.
