Milan Fashion Week wraps today, and while most of the shows and presentations happened virtually, the calendar didn’t stop Milan’s street style-set from turning up. Luckily for the models and editors on the ground, spring weather has arrived—and they had the wardrobe to prove it. From light jackets and sneakers to sunglasses and even crop tops (!), there wasn’t a snow boot, puffer coat, or sweatpant in sight.

Instead, Milanese locals opted for relaxed denim jeans as the foundation for casual but Fashion Week–worthy looks. Whether they were heading to a photoshoot, showroom appointment, or socially distant presentation, they delivered us a dose of jean outfit inspiration. These street style stars prove that despite the pandemic’s loungewear boom, denim hasn’t gone anywhere. Let this be your inspiration to, once again, slip into a pair of jeans or, for those who haven’t given up on denim this past year, admire some new ways to wear your favorite denim.

Try jeans and go comfortable with a Converse sneaker and oversized button-down. Or go the polished route—with the on-trend XXL chain necklace and a heeled bootie. And then there’s the effortless off-duty look—denim with an easy T-shirt, blazer, and black shoulder bag. Whichever way you wear it, just don’t forget your mask!

Here, five locals give the classic Americana staple a spin for spring. Shop the best jean outfits from Milan Fashion Week street style, below.

Rock a Relaxed Fit

A borrowed-from-the-boys button-down keeps light-wash denim casual. However, with the addition of a chain-strap bag, leather waistcoat, and worn-in kicks, the look veers toward rock and roll.
