A silver lining of social distancing? You ve never had more time to learn. And if you re wary of signing up for an online Ivy League course, a makeup tutorial offers a breezy, less committal counter. Enter Miley Cyrus. Last week, the pop star launched Bright Minded: Live with Miley—a series of self-produced interviews and general hangs with fellow celebrities (and one psychiatrist)—on Instagram TV, the latest episode featuring Hailey Bieber, as well as RuPaul s Drag Race stars Trixie Mattel and Milk for lessons in bright, buoyant makeup looks.
Cyrus kicked off the beauty event with scrunchie purveyor Emi Jay, announcing that she s partnering with the brand for a "Care Together" campaign benefitting Feeding America. Then came a skincare conversation with Bieber, followed by a neutral glam look from the model—comprised of shimmering taupe and gray smoked lids, a nude lip, and a tap of bronze highlight—and a full-glam, overlined red lip from Cyrus. "I will say, being stuck inside for this last week, these last couple of days, it feels nice to do yourself up a little bit," said Bieber.

Next came Mattel—and her exaggerated black-and-white eye look. "We are getting in drag and we have nowhere to go," said Mattel moments after switching on a background disco ball. "And that is really the spirit of drag, isn t it?" A discussion around beauty and identity followed, leading into an appearance by Milk. "You know, just a little lip for this quarantine moment," she said, her pout contoured and extremely-overdrawn to metallic pink perfection. "A drag queen s best friend is lip liner," Milk directed, as Cyrus followed her amped-up cues. And then, naturally, a dance party ensued.
The episode evoked thoughts of an irreverent-yet-sweet slumber party, the exact sort of vibe that makes social distancing feel more free and less lonely. With a schedule of forthcoming guests including the likes of Reese Witherspoon, Bright Minded is destined to be a part of your regular remote routine.
