There’s only so much an Olympic athlete can do to showcase individual style and spirit while competing—especially if she s going for speed. But the gifted women on the U.S. swim team have found a way: stud earrings. A pair of small silver elephants peeking out from underneath **Dana Vollmer’**s cap didn t weigh her down as she broke a world record on Sunday, winning a gold medal in the 100-meter butterfly. And perhaps as a nod to the life aquatic, many on the team decided on classic pearl studs, such as the ones Missy Franklin wore when she swam the 100-meter backstroke. Not only did she set a new American record, winning yet another gold medal for Team USA, but she was well accessorized on the podium.
