Ever since the release of Killers of the Flower Moon, Oscar-nominated actor Lily Gladstone has been a household name—and a Vogue favorite on the red carpet. This week, Christian Allaire, Vogue’s senior fashion and style writer, came on the podcast to speak with Lily about her latest film, Fancy Dance, and working on sets with a majority Indigenous cast. (Christian first saw Lily in the 2016 Kelly Reichardt drama Certain Women, and has been following her work ever since.) Lily also talks about integrating Native fashion into her red carpet looks—recall her dress at this year’s Oscars, a collaboration between Gucci and Joe Big Mountain—and reveals that Christian’s coverage of Indigenous designers for Vogue has been something she looks to for outfit inspiration!

We also get a dispatch from Paris, where Chioma is fresh from her first Louis Vuitton menswear show, held at UNESCO’s headquarters. Always a multimedia guy, Pharrell leaned into that sensibility at the show, inviting hip-hop duo Clipse to premiere a new song as clothes went down the runway. Chloe had heard rumors that Colman Domingo started something of a dance party in the front row, which Chioma confirms, adding that he was sporting an incredible pair of LV pleated shorts. This leads to a broader discussion about the length of shorts, particularly as worn by men; while the rules remain unclear, Paul Mescal and his short shorts can certainly do no wrong.

Yet men’s fashion week (including Dries Van Noten’s final men’s show!) and couture at the end of the month aren’t the only reasons Paris is abuzz: this Sunday also marks Vogue World: Paris! Unlike its iterations in New York and London (a Manhattan street fair and tribute to the West End, respectively), Vogue World 2024 will celebrate French fashion and the world of sport. Be sure to watch the livestream hosted by friend of Vogue Cara Delevigne, and listen to a special Vogue World episode of the podcast next Monday.
