I am apparently the last to know that Normal People star and universally renowned Phoebe Bridgers ex-boyfriend Paul Mescal is starring alongside Melissa Barrera in a dance-heavy, opera-light interpretation of Carmen. Naturally, as a devotee of this cute Irish man, I m thrilled to learn that he actually sings in the movie. - I m not trying to imply that Paul Mescal has big Beatles energy, but I feel like he could make a few teenage girls faint.
- Actually, what Mescal s performance really reminds me of is Jim Sturgess as Jude in Across the Universe, the 2007 Beatles jukebox musical.
- Lest that sound like an insult, please know that I harbored a deep and unnatural obsession with Jim Sturgess throughout high school and watched Across the Universe literally every weekend while my classmates were (presumably) out having sex. So it s the opposite of a drag!
- I kind of wish this music video were slightly higher-concept. Put this man in a bed with all his friends, Harry Styles-style!
