ETERNAL LOOPS

“The characteristic of every medium is that its content is always another (previous) medium” Marshall McLuhan

In the age of AI, an intriguing phenomenon emerges at the heart of visual artistry—a global archive of human perception standardized through years of machine and human picture making. We find ourselves surrounded by an abundance of identical sunsets, Eiffel Tower snapshots, family portraits, and people posing beside their automobiles. Unwittingly, we ve forged a visual lexicon, a code dictating how the world should appear in our pictures. This surplus of visually akin imagery has, unexpectedly, given rise to a repository of underutilized visual garbage awaiting a recycling system. In comes the transformative touch of AI systems—a regenerative process brimming with fresh opportunities for the creation of new narratives and novel perspectives on our world.

In the hands of the thirteen artists featured in this video exhibition, we voyage even deeper into this paradigm. Their work conjures dreamlike, occasionally nightmarish tales that teeter on the precipice of recognition and innovation. These contemporary visual metaphors form a symbiotic relationship with the familiar imagery of our collective past. The resultant sensation of familiarity takes on a disconcerting quality, an intrinsic facet of the artistic gambit these creators play.

In their capable hands, the once familiar is reborn anew, and what was known morphs into the unfamiliar—a transmutation both evocative and profound.
