THE TREE OF LIFE: A LOVE LETTER TO NATURE
“The Tree of Life: A Love Letter to Nature” showcases the works of the artists selected from the global open call. This year s theme deep dives into our relationship with animals and the whole planet, the challenges we re facing caused by environmental change, the communities and individuals who are fighting to save the Earth, promoting a more sustainable way of living and interacting with it. For many cultures around the world humans are not seen as detached and in opposition to animals and Nature, but as part of it. Inspired by the concept of kinship as conceived in "Kinship: Belonging in a World of Relations" by The Center for Humans and Nature, edited by Gavin Van Horn, Robin Wall Kimmerer, and John Hausdoerffer, this exhibition proposes a new way of living, in which humans create meaningful bonds with their ecosystems, questioning the status quo. “The Tree of Life: A Love Letter to Nature” shows both the fragilities and the beauty of our Planet, and offers a hopeful reflection on the contemporary and the possible paths we can take for a more just future.
The exhibition on display at BASE features work by 45 artists and 5 video makers selected by a jury comprising Condé Nast staff from across the globe and experts from the international visual community.
