Synopsis

Ahead of Richard Mosse’s lectio magistralis, the PhotoVogue Festival will host a special conversation between Alessia Glaviano and Isabelle von Ribbentrop, Executive Director of Prix Pictet, offering a deeper look into the world’s leading award for photography and sustainability.
Founded in 2008 by the Pictet Group, the Prix Pictet aims to harness the power of photography—across all genres—to draw global attention to critical sustainability issues, particularly those concerning the environment. Over its ten cycles, the award has spotlighted photographers whose work not only exhibits artistic excellence but also conveys urgent narratives about our planet’s fragile state.

With a prestigious network of over 300 nominators worldwide, the Prix Pictet has received more than 5,000 nominations, with its exhibitions traveling to major cities and engaging over one million visitors globally. The award’s 100,000 CHF prize has been granted to photographers whose series exemplify both artistic mastery and a profound message on sustainability. Past winners include Benoit Aquin, Nadav Kander, Mitch Epstein, Luc Delahaye, Michael Schmidt, Valérie Belin, Richard Mosse, Joana Choumali, Sally Mann, and Gauri Gill.
Each cycle of the Prix Pictet also results in a beautifully curated book, ensuring the selected works reach a broad audience and further the conversation on sustainability through the lens of photography.

This conversation will offer unique insight into the Prix Pictet’s impact, its commitment to using visual storytelling as a tool for change, and its role in shaping global discourse on the environment.
