Synopsis
The Ghost Rainforest is a powerful short film told from the perspective of indigenous activist Narubia Werreria. It follows a group of five indigenous leaders and activists from the Amazon, as they make an emotionally charged journey to Scotland s rainforest during the COP26 climate conference in Glasgow. With only 30,000 hectares of this rare temperate rainforest habitat left in Scotland, we follow the story of their connection to this endangered ecosystem and the parallels to their own struggles in the Amazon and learn from them as they connect distant communities and share a message of resilience and hope.
Directed by John Davies, concepted and produced by Vivien Cumming, and executive produced by Alice Aedy, this film was made possible by The Alliance for Scotland’s Rainforest, Association Jiboiana, and Raleigh International. The Ghost Rainforest is a co-production by Vivien Cumming and Earthrise Studio featuring Narubia Werreria, Thaline Iny Karajá, Val Munduruku, Siã Huni Kuin and Busã Huni Kuin.
PhotoVogue Festival is a project directed by Alessia Glaviano (Head of Global PhotoVogue) and co-curated by Caterina De Biasio (Visual Editor, PhotoVogue) and Daniel Rodríguez Gordillo (Senior Manager, Education Community Initiatives, Condé Nast)
