Pizza, Pop-Up Shopping, and Public School Make for a Good Thursday Night

Who says the fashion set doesn’t eat? Last night on the Bowery, right next door to the New Museum and all the trendy restaurants, Public School’s Dao-Yi Chow and Maxwell Osborne celebrated their latest partnership, a collaboration with New Era, by hosting a pizza party. But this wasn’t your average pizza party—the guest list boasted one of football’s most fashionable, Victor Cruz; artist Daniel Arsham; and a slew of models. But how did the duo come up with idea to set up their very stylish eatery? “When we did the collaboration with MLB [Major League Baseball] and New Era, it was really easy,” said Osborne. “It was all about New York. And we were like: If we’re doing a pop-up, how do we display the hats? What’s so New York and what do we both love? Pizza!” As stylish young things including Shaun Ross and YesJulz shimmied while Jus Ske and Ibe Soliman spun tracks, everyone was nibbling on the free slices. “We’ve been thinking about retiring from fashion,” said Chow with an ear-to-ear grin. “We have a secret special grandma recipe. And a secret stash of New York City tap water that’s been on tap for 20 years, so the crust is going to be unbelievable.” And no doubt just as delicious as their designs.
