Riley Keough s copper waves are aspirational, bohemian, effortlessly glamorous, and an inadvertent star of this year s Daisy Jones the Six. That is, they were. Fortunately, her fully-revamped mane—officially debuted last night on Instagram—is just as impactful, and it s no wonder: the look was inspired by a 90s-era Liv Tyler.
“We wanted a fresh new length for fall,” says hairstylist Gregory Russell, who looked to throwback captures of Tyler (think 1994) for inspiration for both the cut and color of Keough s new dark chocolate tresses. “It s a versatile cut for cool, undone texture or a bit of polish, and the face-framing layers really suit her.”
That the makeover looked immediately natural is a testament to Keough s adaptable beauty. The actor has been blonde, burnished, and yes, brunette—but this new hue and the accompanying cut feel right on time. A sumptuous, rich brown coupled with mutable, zhuzh-able layers? Consider the shift an ode to 2023 as well as the mid-1990s.
