Nonostante Marras presents the exhibition Ron Galella: Beauty Forever, curated by Francesca Alfano Miglietti. The exhibition will be open to the public from March 8 to 30, 2025.
This project is organized in collaboration with Alberto Damian Gallery of Treviso, which has represented Ron Galella in Italy since 2018, Metronom Gallery of Modena, and Sime Books from Conegliano, which published the Italian edition of Ron Galella s latest book. The exhibition showcases over 100 photographs by Ron Galella (New York, 1931 – Montville, 2022), renowned for his candid shots of celebrities from the worlds of cinema, television, music, fashion, as well as political figures, magnates, artists, authors, and innovators.
Regarded by Andy Warhol as his "favorite photographer," Ron Galella is the most famous and celebrated paparazzo worldwide. His career was characterised by his ability to capture iconic figures in spontaneous, unposed moments, often taken without warning. His deep passion for photography and his genuine connection with his subjects resulted in an intimate body of work, setting him apart in the world of entertainment photojournalism. However, his dedication to his work didn t come without consequences: Galella often found himself attacked by bodyguards or celebrities, suffering injuries, or involved in legal battles.
Even years after they were taken, Galella s photographs—such as the iconic Windblown Jackie or his shot of John Lennon and Mick Jagger at a 1974 American Film Institute gala in Los Angeles—remain widely published in magazines and books, and featured in documentaries globally. His signed prints are highly sought after and can be found in numerous museum collections, including the Museum of Modern Art in New York and San Francisco, the Tate Modern in London, and the Helmut Newton Foundation in Berlin.
