6 Unexpected Spring 2024 Color Trends We Loved From the Runways—And How to Style Them

6 Spring 2024 Color Trends We Loved From the Runways—And How to Wear Them

When it comes to everyday outfits, pulling looks off the runway isn’t always the most practical. Schiaparelli’s recent sci-fi-couture collection, for example, while fabulously chic, may be better suited for the catwalk or the red carpet. That said, when it comes to styling and tricks of the trade, the runways are ripe with inspiration. One such trick we’ve been paying attention to recently? Color combinations. The spring 2024 runways offered a masterclass in mixing and matching unexpected shades to excellent effect.

Whether it was with the unusual pairing of two neutrals, like rich navy blue and deep chocolatey brown, or the combining of contrast colors, like purple and Kelly green, all of our favorite designers seemed to be pushing their palettes this season. If you want to get in on the fun, but don’t know where to start, we’ve put together a little primer on styling some of our favorite spring 2024 color trends and pairings in the edit below.

While traditional styling wisdom may preach against the pairing of navy and dark brown, we think the combination looks crisp and elegant for spring, and Miu Miu showed us a great way to wear it. Go for a warm chocolate brown (the suede adds a sumptuous touch of texture) with a dark, clean navy, and keep the extras simple.

Red continues to have its moment in the sun as fashion’s favorite color. We loved seeing it paired with gray for spring, which feels fresher and more unexpected than a basic black.

Speaking of gray, why not bring it to life with a dash of Kelly green? The shades together feel alive, but not too on the nose.

Another neutral that comes to life when paired with a pop of red is khaki. When trench coat weather comes around, crimson extras and basic black accessories might be the perfect partners.

Barbie pink may have been the big hero of 2023, but in 2024 we think it might be purple. Purple looks particularly cool paired with army green and soft accessories. Bonus points if you can sneak a hint of red in there, too!

As far as neutrals go, brown and gray have both been big hits this season. Why not put them together for a sleek, but not too harsh, minimalist look?
