If you are a superstar tennis player, chances are you will know a thing or two about personal hygiene. This was exactly the case for Florida-born tennis protégé Sloane Stephens, the US Open winner with eight World Tennis Association Tour singles titles to her name (at 18, she’s the youngest player to ever be in the WTA top 100), who today launches her new body-care line, Doc Glo.

“During the pandemic, there was a period of about two years where we couldn’t shower in the changing rooms, so I wanted to develop something that could help you freshen up on the go until you could get to your own shower,” Stephens explains.

Serving up a dynamic duo for the launch, Doc Glow comprises the No. 3161 Game-Changing Deodorant and the 24/7 Hustle Deodorizing Body Mist. The former is an aluminum-free, active, enzyme-rich formula designed to neutralize body odor and soothe razor irritation without leaving a white cast (all nonnegotiables for a woman who shows her underarms to the entire world every time she serves), and the latter is an antimicrobial body freshener that hydrates and protects the skin. Stephens was also committed to creating clean and high-performance alternatives to traditional body products. As a result, the line is vegan, cruelty-free, hypoallergenic, and compliant with Clean at Sephora and EU regulations.

But how does an athlete test her products? By taking them on training camp and having her fellow sporting coaches and peers be her guinea pigs. “I was just asking everyone on tour, ‘Do you still stink?’ after they used it. That’s how I really put these products to the test and found out they worked.”

The line also combines two of Stephens’s greatest inspirations: “Everything I do is about family and sport,” she explains. Her mother, Sybil Smith, is an all-American swimmer at Boston University, and her father, John Stephens, was an NFL running back. But this line is dedicated to her grandparents—her grandfather, Dr. Noel Smith, who was an ob-gyn (hence the Doc in Doc Glam) and the most glamorous of grandmothers, Gloria Smith (there goes the Glam).

“This is on-the-go freshness for bodies in motion”, she explains. “Not just athletes, but anyone who is busy and on the move and who wants to feel good. Because why shouldn’t hygiene be elevated to be part of your self-care routine?”. Game on.
