Formula One is quickly becoming fashion’s favorite sport; there’s a good reason why editors, stylists, Arnaults, and Pinaults gather in Monaco every May for the Monaco Grand Prix. And it’s not just that many of the drivers have great taste in fashion—or maybe just Lewis Hamilton—the sport’s iconography makes it a rich ground for designers. In 2016, Moschino’s Jeremy Scott showed a menswear collection at Pitti Uomo of racing-inspired dresses and sporty separates; and designers like Dior’s Maria Grazia Chiuri, Marine Serre, and Maximilian Davis at Ferragamo have indulged in the look. Last year, Chanel even took to the sovereign state for its resort show, which had models clad in checkered jackets and tweed overalls, all accessorized with the maison’s signature decadent leather goods.
