"I started the process of photographing “The Box” series by creating the outfits and backgrounds using raw wool. I believe we all can choose who we want to be in life. Rarely things are black and white rather they are shades of black/white or male/female. With those thoughts I added blue and gold color to Eve’s face, and inspired by the transporter in the Star Trek television series, I sought to give the pictures slightly futuristic feel.
When I begin to make photographs I tell my model Eve Star Trek story and we then collaborated on makeup and styling. I don’t have to please anyone or sell anything with my photographs, so I give Eve and Sophie room to be themselves. This happens with all my shoots. After creating the backgrounds and outfits in isolation working with models opens up my creativity even more making the sessions joyful for me. I hope this also comes across in my pictures."
