At PhotoVogue, we believe our greatest strength lies in our community. We cherish it deeply and love to connect with creative forces that celebrate art in all its diverse forms. That’s why partnering with Cult of Magic for the PhotoVogue Festival was such a special experience. This collective, blending contemporary dance, music, and performance art, truly embodies the spirit of artistic innovation.
Founded in Milan in 2017 by Francesco Sacco, Samira Cogliandro, Giada Vailati, and Luca Pasquino, Cult of Magic has captivated audiences around the world with performances at prestigious venues like Triennale Milano, Museo Novecento in Florence, and the Venice Biennale. Artists from all over the globe came together for the Festival, and the atmosphere was pure magic!
On March 7th, Cult of Magic lit up the stage at the iconic Plastic Club in Milan for their live performance Re Penelope at the PhotoVogue Festival Party. Known for its legendary history of hosting icons like Madonna, Elton John, and Keith Haring, Plastic Club was the perfect backdrop for this electric performance. Inspired by the feminist protests in Santiago, Chile, in 2019, Re Penelope fused contemporary political themes with mythological elements, bringing to life powerful female rulers, centaur women, travelers, and heroines. The show was accompanied by a live techno soundtrack featuring analog synthesizers, acoustic instruments, and drum machines, creating an immersive experience for everyone involved.
To top it off, the performance was enhanced by a breathtaking live projection by PhotoVogue photographer Lucrezia Testa Iannilli, exploring the fusion of human and animal, future and ancestral. It was an unforgettable night of creativity, collaboration, and connection, and we’re beyond grateful to have shared it with such an incredible community.
