On Tuesday night, Manhattan s intimate King hosted a dinner to celebrate the launch of The RealReal s Substack. It was the perfect collision of fashion, food, and form. A mannequin dressed in TRR finds greeted the guests. Substacks were made in between courses of hand-cut ravioli and roasted onglet. Fashion-themed Mad Libs were filled out tableside.
Tastemakers, industry notables, and editors mingled amidst the in-the-know Substackers. Actor and filmmaker Francesca Scorsese and model Bella Banos mingled with Feed Me s Emily Sundberg and Consider Yourself Cultured s Jalil Johnson. Other beloved Substackers Laura Reilly of Magasin, Emilia Petrarca of Shop Rat, and Hunter Harris of Hung Up could be seen among the crowd of notables, along with editorial mainstays Mickey Boardman and Lynn Yaeger. It was an interconnected web of creatives—even King s co-owner Clare de Boer has a much-followed Substack.
At the core of the evening was, of course, stood The RealGirl. If Tim Gunn and Gossip Girl co-wrote a style publication, this would be it. The Substack offers an unfiltered, genuine take on navigating the marketplace, from the highs of scoring a rare vintage gem to the lows of watching the dream item go out of stock. It appears that a new world of editorial awaits, it s a change we welcome with open arms.
