The article

If you’re struggling for ideas, check out Vogue Business’s website. You can read through the latest headlines or search by category — companies, fashion, technology, retail, sustainability and beauty. Think of a topic you’ve discussed online or with friends — something you’re passionate or even sceptical about. Have a look through other fashion and business publications and see if there are any topics you can apply to Vogue Business’s audience, or think about any gaps or alternative perspectives that are missing from stories you’ve read on topical issues.

When writing, start out with the most important information and flesh out the story from there. You don’t have to interview anyone, but include a couple of recent brand examples or case studies if you can. Vogue Business’s global audience is made up of fashion, luxury and beauty executives as well as young startup founders and emerging designers in the industry. What are the key lessons they can take away from your story that will help them make better business decisions?

Your work will be judged on originality, research, writing quality and style (not including spelling and grammar) and suitability and relevance to the Vogue Business audience.

The pitches

Keep the pitches short and sweet. You don’t have to be an expert on these topics — just follow your natural curiosity and tell us which points within your chosen topic you’re most interested in exploring. In the summary, mention why you think the topic is relevant to Vogue Business’s audience and make sure you mention who you’d like to interview — that can be any executives, founders or designers from big brands or external experts and commentators. And don’t forget to add a headline.
