For actor Vanessa Hudgens, healthy skin starts with one rule: Wash your face. “Even if it’s midday and you’re putting on your makeup to go out with your girlfriends, cleanse. Get everything off so you have a really clear face,” Hudgens advises. The Tick, Tick…Boom! star begins prep for a girls’ night out with her Know Beauty cleanser and moisturizer—avoiding oils and serums completely because she has oily skin. Hudgens recounts that she began breaking out in her early 20s (a result, in part, of too much wine and cheese). She started her brand to help take the guesswork out of skin care. “It’s so nice, because I feel like I’m at a point where I love my skin. My skin is the best it’s ever looked,” she reflects, sharing that her sensitive skin does better with simple, minimal-ingredient products.
After depuffing with a face massager, she reaches for the Rare Beauty Light Touch Brightening Concealer. Thanks to her mom’s mixed heritage (Filipino, Chinese, and Spanish to be exact), Hudgens notes it’s been a journey to find the right products for her skin tone. “Everything goes on a little too pink, so it’s been nice finding products that actually match my skin,” she explains, before moving onto a Bare Minerals Foundation and Fenty Beauty Bronzer. “Brows are the windows to the soul,” says Hudgens as she sets them in place with a Benefit Cosmetics Pen and Patrick Ta Gel—focusing on amplifying her natural beauty and enhancing her naturally thick brows.
For makeup, Hudgens begins to create a berry look by sweeping swatches of eye shadow across and under her eyes, focusing on the crease and corners with a touch of highlighter just below her finished brows. “I love putting products everywhere,” says Hudgens as she applies her blush across her eyes—a practice she uses in other parts of her routine, too. She turns to a burgundy-hued MAC lipstick: “I love dabbing it a little and taking it onto my cheeks just to pull the color in together”—a technique she likes to use when reapplying lipstick while she’s out, just to maintain the rosy complexion. A dot of Freck Noir to disguise a rogue pimple finishes her look, before Hudgens spritzes herself with Maison Margiela’s By the Fireplace perfume. Et voilà—she’s out the door to hit the town.
