Yara Shahidi s Next-Level Bantu Knots Are a Red Carpet Win in Los Angeles

What s better than one super-sleek topknot? Two—a.k.a. space buns—of course. And what s better than space buns? A full-on crown of slicked-back bantu knots. The point was proven last night by Yara Shahidi, who stepped out at the L.A. premiere of BlacKkKlansman with her collective of curls wound up in a quintet of twists worthy of a contemporary queen.

The hair-crafted topper was accompanied by tiny escapist tendrils that ran across the actress s forehead to romantic effect. And below the artful hairline, a feline flick of liquid liner offered the only adornment to an otherwise bare and glowing complexion, framed by a set of silver hoops. Finally, a set of overgrown eyebrows made for an authentic addition—and Shahidi s choice not to tamper with them will likely spur yet another new trend in the process. It seems that the best modern evening looks are a studied equation: One part stylized, one part organic, and wholly aspirational.
