If you’ve been following the beauty looks coming out of New York Fashion Week, then you’re already familiar with the wet hair look. Seen on the models at Helmut Lang, Ludovic de Saint Sernin, and Prabal Gurung, the calculated look has quickly made its way to the red carpet at the Dune: Part Two premiere on superstar Zendaya.

First thing’s first—no, the hair isn’t actually wet. Instead, strategically layered products weigh down the hair to simply give the effect of moisture. Backstage at Prabal, hairstylist Jawara drenched strands in the Root Shoot mousse, Glam Mist spray, and Pearl Styler gel (all from Wella) to create a similar just-caught-in-the-elements effect.

Zendaya isn’t the only celebrity who is a fan of the wet hair look. It’s been seen everywhere from the Met Gala to Sofia Richie
