Tia Cibani journeyed to India this season, and while her palette of amber and azure made for an appealing spectacle, her interpretation of the subcontinent s aesthetic heritage felt too literal at times. The traditional angarkha coat that opened the show, for example, fell awkwardly on the model s frame. There were some more inspiring moments: A chic wool coat in moonstone gray revealed only a peek at a gold lamé skirt underneath, striking just the right balance in a collection that elsewhere leaned too heavily toward the obvious.
