A recent exhibition of Bill Traylor s work at the American Folk Art Museum served as the reference point for Marcia Patmos cheerful Pre-Fall color palette and geometric prints. Focusing, as usual, on her signature knitwear, Patmos reinterpreted Traylor s paintings as a spotted, "almost leopard" pattern and a graphic plaid seen on a stretchy jacquard midi dress. Other standouts for the M.Patmos collection included a lightweight varsity cardigan featuring leather buttons and plush crewnecks paired with full, knee-length skirts.
Patmos introduced a few new categories, too, with luxe sweatpants and crisp shirting that felt like a natural progression for the brand, as well as a pair of ultra-relaxed, menswear-y trousers shown with a checked flannel sweatshirt. "I m feeling for a tailoring that s a bit looser and slouchy," she explained. Cozy outerwear was another highlight. A functional topcoat cut from refined double-face wool cashmere was completely reversible, for example. Overall, Patmos continued emphasis on casual luxury resonated strongly during a season that s been all about comfort.
