It s hard not to feel optimistic when perusing Max Osterweis and Erin Beatty s colorful and graphic Resort collection for Suno. And then they tell you about the challenges and rewards of training Kenyan tailors to produce the line. It s about as feel-good as one can get when looking at a rack of clothes.
What started as an outlet for Osterweis sizable collection of vintage African textiles has expanded to include new fabrics: A tie-dyed neon-striped pattern the duo sourced in India made for a cool jumpsuit, and a bright kanga-printed peplum dress trimmed in digital lace was a neat update to their original designs. Also noteworthy was a print they developed themselves that resembled Day-Glo splatter paint.
The duo s commitment to social awareness, coupled with their ability to push the design envelope each season, shows that they re about more than just producing pretty clothes—though they do that, too.
