Emporio Armani

RESORT 2012

By Giorgio Armani

The rationale of the new Emporio Armani Resort collection was City Oasis, a typically concise attempt by Giorgio Armani to convey the essence of clothes that glossed urban chic with a hint of the exotic. It was subtle, but it was there: in a color palette of faded saffrons, pinks, and nudes; in a coat that could almost have been a kurta; in the samurailike sleeve of a shift in navy stretch wool; and in the silk-knotted neckpieces.

The overriding impression, though, was that signature Armani easiness, almost pajamalike in washed-silk track pants and slouchy tops and tanks, shown with flats. Even the dressier pieces—like the sun-ray-pleated knit skirt worn with a silken camisole, or the white linen shorts suit—caught the sporty spirit. "Dress and go" may have been the catchphrase for Armani s signature Resort collection, but it applied even more here. Dress and go-go-go.
